Biography

Written by Ronin

While Hitoshi Sakimoto has composed for Square, Enix and Square Enix he has always been quite overshadowed in the world of Final Fantasy Music. His first experience of composition only happened when his friend asked him to compose some music for a video they were shooting. Because of this experience though, he decided that he would like to pursue this further.

It was around this point that he met Masaharu Iwata and together they started working on projects geared towards plays at the college that they were both attending.

Hitoshi then thought that he would like to pursue his composition career in the video game field and he started off by composing the soundtrack to the game "Revolter". He has then gone from strength to strength by composing for Square, Enix, Sega and Quest with Vagrant Story and Ogre Battle being some of his principle projects.

Recently though, the spotlight has been put heavily of Hitoshi and when the composer for the Final Fantasy XII soundtrack was announced, quite a few people were suprised. I'm sure Hitoshi will thrive on the pressure though and I can only see him doing a great job at the task that Square Enix has set for him. It seems as though they wanted the progression to continue, since Hitoshi has composed both of the Final Fantasy Tactics based games previous to Final Fantasy XII.
