Biography
Written by Ronin
Like some of the other composers that ended up working for Square, Noriko Matsueda started her musical education at a very young age. She followed up this early interest in music by joining the Shobi Academy in Tokyo, which is specifically geared towards musicial and social studies. It was here that she met her long time friend, Takahito Eguchi.
Noriko joined Square in 1994 and one of her first projects was to work on a singular track for the game entitled Chrono Trigger with the aid of Nobuo Uematsu and Yasanori Mitsuda. In 1996 however, things progressed and she was given her first principle title to work on, Bahamut Lagoon. Takahito Eguchi, proud of his friend, offered to help her with some of the music in the game as well.
It was in 1997 that the Matsueda/Eguchi combination really formed for Square though, when they worked on the Front Mission 2 Original Soundtrack together; the first of many that would see them work side by side as partners.
However, in the year 2001 they parted company briefly after completing the Original Soundtrack for The Bouncer so that Eguchi could compose the music for the new PlayOnline browser, which would be used to accompany Final Fantasy XI. Shortly after though, they were called back together to work on the Final Fantasy X-2 Original Soundtrack; a job that would be interesting for all of the parties involved..
