Hmmm, well I don't really have any friends that are poetry/lyric writers or anything like that. But actually I could try to write the music first and then the lyrics to fit it. Just with that I'd have to change the melody a bit to fit the lyrics and whatnot.

Yep. I always hate having to compromise the original melody though.

Yeah, I know...but I don't think I could just come up with lyrics from scratch...so I'll give it a try this way when I find some time...there should be more hours in the day.
