hey! great job to all of the arrangers! you guys are amazing! I dont know how you got the midi instruments to sound so real? Did you guys use Reason? Because all of the midis i have tried to use for guitar are quite terrible so I wanted to do a live recording. but ya! Great job!

Congratulations to everyone who participated, especially to those five (you know who you are ). I'd have to say that I liked Alex Lamonte's Vamo Alla' Flamenco the best; I'm kind of partial to that song. Good job!

Alex definitely got mad "personal tilt" points for recording his arrangement live. I believe there was only one other person that did that.

Actually I had major flaws while notating my arrangement, so I played mine as well. For some reason, I find live playing much cleaner sounding than midi (generally speaking). But I still think Alex played his piece really well, I didn't achieve a sound as good as his.

Hey thanks. It was kind of hard to record 24 guitarists in such little time, but somehow it worked out. I used two Earthworks microphones and a Zoom H4 recorder. Soon, Ill try to post a video of our ensemble performing Vamo alla Flamenco at a guitar festivle. And I totally agree that live recordings are much cleaner and crisp, but recordings are also much more stressful and difficult to work with. If I could find a decent MIDI guitar sound I would really like to use it.

Amazing job everyone; it was a real pleasure getting to listen to the arrangements, although having to select a clear winner was a hard choice to make with so many beautiful and simply amazing entries.
Alex: absolutely loved Flamenco; it was probably as real and authentic. I'll keep an eye out for a video of the ensemble playing this. I'd love to see how you actually pulled this off! Most others synthesized the arrangements and although the performance aspect didn't affect the final grade, it was a real pleasure to listen to the human touch instead of a computer spitting out signals.
Tera: I really enjoyed your's as well; such a heartfelt and beautiful arrangement. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the sheet music so I can make my string-playing friends play it. Absolutely a wonderful piece.
Congrats to the other judges out there who spent hours upon hours reviewing the 53 entries! Great job everyone!

Absolutely, great job to all who entered!
Alex: I love the H4 - for a little grey box with two mics, that thing can really record well!
I loved Andrew's arrangement, I'm glad that it won - very clever, beautiful production, awesome arranging/orchestration. Yeah... not that I'm putting down anyone else (as I'm Kenley, the guy who couldn't quite top "Dirt Devil", lol), but a thanks and congrats to the judges who took the time and energy to look over all 53 entries!
My thanks!

Indeed, thank you judges, as well as Tim and all others involved in making this competition happen.
Top five - well done, and congratulations. I especially like the Lost Odyssey arrangement, even though it's the only one to involve pieces that I've not heard before. I can also really appreciate the work that went into Castle Pandemonium, because it's the piece that I chose to arrange, as well.
I don't know where I placed yet, but regardless, this competition pushed me to create what I consider to be my personal best arrangement to date and I'm really glad that I got to be a part of it. I'm already looking forward to the next one!
