I couldn't agree more.

This is a relief anyway. I'm confident in making music, but not as much in writing it -- at least for a big arrangement with, say, string quartet or woodwinds. This boosts my interest in the competition tenfold.

Thanks Ronin. I think that if I had more time and a better version of Finale I would do it. It's too bad, too! That prize sounds awesome!

While sheet music isn't required, it's certainly appreciated if possible to add it to the site.

As far as guidelines for the style of the arrangement... Can it have modern twists? The previous arrangement competition was entirely classical instrumentation. I plan on using classical instruments, but can I bring in electronic synths or drums? Or does the arrangement have to be entirely playable (aka, real instruments. no synths or electronic mixing)?

There are no restrictions on instrumentation or anything like that. Do as you please.

Oh, before I forget, is the submitted arrangement allowed to be a medley? I don't think it's possible to write a proper tribute to Uematsu without exloring more than one piece

Blobbery.

Medleys are fine.

Hm, this'll be my first competition. A bit frightening to post something after a list of people with a shiny Featured Arranger tag... ah well. Like Josh said, it's for the fun

I'm glad you entered Seabass! The more the merrier. It looks like this one is going to be pretty big. I've already received around 25 entries so far.

I'm still in need of some judges though, so if anyone's willing to volunteer, that'd be great!
