Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Arrangement Competition -
04-08-2008, 08:30 AM
Hey guys,
After the huge success of the last competition, it was inevitable that there would be a follow-up, even it is slightly more low-key this time. After seeing all the hysteria revolving around Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, what better time to embrace the music than now?
The next competition is scheduled to happen during May-June, so the sign-up process will end on the 8th of May 2008, with entries needing to be submitted by the 1st of June 2008. The results will then be announced shortly afterwards.
The last competition had an extraodinary prize and while we won't be able to deliver that kind if prize every competition, that doesn't mean we're going to skimp. The prize for this competition will be the winner's choice of either the Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core game for the PSP or the Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core Original Soundtrack. If there are at least 20 entrants in the competition who submit an arrangement, we'll award a second copy of the game or soundtrack to the first runner-up.
Any piece from the Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core OST or the Final Fantasy VII OST will be allowed for submission into the competition, and all pieces that fall outside these criteria will unfortunately not be counted in the judging process. Speaking of the judging process, more information will be announced about that shortly, but I will confirm that I will be judging the competition again.
Thanks,
Ronin

Sounds Great! I don't have the game, so does anybody know where I can see a list of the Soundtrack for reference? And Perhaps a MIDI file or .mp3?

Same here. I could stick to the original FF7, but i'd like to hear the soundtrack of the new one first, is possible.
Where are you? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.

Just to clarify a bit, we're not ignoring the suggestions in the other competition threads. We're just going to try and put on competitions a little more often and try to base them on current game/album releases. These competitions won't be as big as the last one obviously, but we want to have contests on a semi-consistent basis. We'll save the good ideas from the competition suggestion threads for the bigger competitions we run, which we'll try to do about once per quarter.

This sounds awesome. I don't know much about Crisis Core, let alone the music, but I plan on entering the competition.

I just skimmed through the OST, has anybody else felt like most of the songs on it sound like they have already been arranged?
To me, the Crisis Core OST sounds a lot like FFVII: Voices of the Lifestream, where the songs sound mixed or rearranged with either live recording or sampling, but don't get me wrong, it's still good, and it should be an interesting competition as well.

Yea, the Crisis Core OST does feature about 12 pieces from either FF7 or Last Order, which is why I felt FFVII entries should also be included, since that constitutes about 25% of the soundtrack.
