Default Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections in midi format? - 05-05-2009, 01:22 PM

Hi All!

Sorry if this topic has already been covered - i searched the forum but couldn't find it

This is my first post....

...and what i was wandering is if the FFVII piano collections was available in midi format.

You see i cant read music that well, so i was going to put the midi files on Synthesia so then i know which notes to play.
I've search google for several days now and can't find them, the only versions i have found are the cheap cut down (simplified versions) and orchestrated versions.

The piece i want the most is Aeriths Theme (its beautiful), and i'd love to be able to play it as well as the others.

Any help finding them would be much appreciated...

Thanks in advance.

Try VGMusic - 28,365 Game Music MIDI files

I'm not sure if it's on there. I haven't looked at the site much.

That caused me some trouble when i started too actually. I don't think original MIDIs were ever created for the that collection, or at least i never found them either. However, if you look through some arrangements, there are some that are extremely close to the originals that can be opened using things like Finale; then you can make your own MIDIs.

Other than that, here's some helpful advice. As much as reading music might seem hard, practice it. I only used MIDIs when i started, but reading music and playing by ear are really important in my opinion (i'm still not that good either, so i'm kinda being a hypocrite).

Where are you? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.

Hi Guys - I tried VGMusic but to no avail, but thanks for trying Carlo.

I guess your right Bahamut... I'll just have to persevere and try to teach myself (with the help of Google...lol) how to read music. I like the idea though of finding an arrangement for it - so i guess this a request...

If anyone out there can play the Proper Piano Collections Aeriths theme and/or the rest of the collections music and save in midi format then that would be most appreciated, but in the mean time i will have to TRY to read music...

Thanks. and thanks for the comments.

It would be best if you learned to read music. Trust me, it is one of the most valuble skills you will ever learn! If you learn to read music well then you won't have to rely on midis to learn new music! It's not as hard as it seems. It just takes practice. Music notation is comprised of a pattern based system. Just learn the patterns and you've got it made.

Indeed. Music notation has been engineered to be as simple and efficient as possible over the centuries, and it is, indeed, one of the first skills you will ever learn in music, so in reality it shouldn't take you more than a week of dedicated practise to get a good grounding in sheet music reading. Of course, it will, however, take continual practise to read more difficult pieces, sight read and etc.

Blobbery.

Thanks for the advise guys, I really do need to be able to read music, I've been trying to learn Aeriths theme from the sheet and I'll admit that i am struggling quite a bit to read it. I can read but painstakingly slowly (it took me approx an hour to get half way down the first page), I've never been formally taught to play the piano and am mostly self taught, I've been playing the keyboard for almost 15 years and although I've made progress in that time it isn't as much as I'd like, I've thought about taking piano lessons but just can't afford them.

At the moment I'm trying to memorize the notes for Treble and Bass staffs and hopefully them I'll get better, I'm getting a new digital piano soon (Yamaha DGX 630) and am hoping that will encourage me.

So again thanks for the advise guys, i do appreciate it.

Thanks.

I teach piano. I know a really good Music Theory book that would help you out. It has lessons on things like reading notes, musical terms, key signatures, etc. It's called "Just the Facts." They usually cost about $5-10 per workbook. You might want to check them out.

Well, this is interesting...we have someone who will take on the challenge of learning how to read music. Just wondering Neo, but how old are you?
