Default Sakimoto Piano Collections Tribute - 06-15-2009, 09:32 AM

**UPDATE**
Bhujerba sheet music is all done. Here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nz3rnoyywne

Hi all,

I've started a project recently, arranging Hitoshi Sakimoto's works from his vast catalogue of games into solo piano. Masashi Hamauzu and Shiro Hamaguchi are my idols, but I don't blame them for never undertaking an FFXII Piano Collections - his works are brilliant, but very orchestral and hard to condense.

I'd like to get some feedback for these arrangements as I go along - I'm working on many pieces simultaneously, so progress is slow, but I have finished and recorded one arrangement - "The Skycity of Bhujerba".

YouTube - The Skycity of Bhujerba - Sakimoto Fan Piano Collections

I hope you guys like it. As soon as Sibelius arrives I'll have sheet music done up for it. Here's a breakdown of the other pieces I've got planned, with asterixes next to the ones I've actually started working on:

FFXII
The Skycity of Bhujerba
* The Dalmasca Estersand
* The Royal City of Rabanastre
* Eruyt Village
* State of Emergency
To The Place of the Gods
Ozmone Plains
Near the Water

FF Tactics Advance
* Walking In Ivalice
Companions who Overcame Their Races
Companions That Gather

(These three will likely be a FFTA medley).

FF Tactics
* Ovelia's Worries
Battle on the Bridge

Valkyria Chronicles
Main Theme

Odin Sphere
Main Theme

I'm also looking for suggestions for songs that might work well for solo piano.

I've listened to your arrangement and I really like it. Some improvements can be made I think, but I really like the style in which you've done it in and I like how how modulate a bit. Even though it's "Piano Collection," it's not like a Hamaguchi or Hamuzu arrangement, which I kind of like. It's refreshing. Some people might say that you cant compare this arrangement to Hamaguchi's or Hamuzu's arrangements, but I think good enough. It makes me feel like I want to keep listening to it listening to it which some of thier (Hamaguchi's or Hamuzu's) arrangements dont do for me.

I'm looking foward to see what you do next!

I listened to it last night. I'll have to listen to it again, but what I remember was very, very good!

Thanks guys. I've just got my copy of Sibelius 6 so the sheet music is coming real soon. And I'll probably re-record it also.

Thanks for your contributions Kiamet, looking forward to the sheets

Oh I have a quick question; how do you like Sibelius 6 so far? I'm thinking of getting either that or Finale.

The sheet music's done! Check out the OP.

Sibelius 6 is great once you learn to work around the little quirks. The last one I owned was Sibelius 2, and a lot has been improved. The most useful thing is the Magnetic Layout feature, which has saved me lot of time. It basically keeps stuff from overlapping each other (for the most part) - I remember making charts in Sibelius 2 where I would painstakingly drag little "pp"'s out from under crescendo lines. Gah.

And the online score publishing will be really handy once I do some original charts. I couldn't publish Bhujerba on SibeliusMusic because the original isn't out of copyright. Ah well.
