Default arrangement ideas? - 08-09-2009, 02:04 AM

I'm a bit stuck at the moment as to what I should work on next. does anyone have any ideas? I have a FFVIII and a Banjo-Kazooie piece in the works, but I'm not feeling either of them at the moment. I'm trying to get away from Final Fantasy music just because I've been doing so much of it for so long, but other than that, as long as I've played the game or heard the song, it's pretty much game. I can write for most ensembles, though percussion and woodwinds are definitely my strong suit.

thanks in advance for any suggestions

Hmmm. Why not try arranging a Jazz Percussion Ensemble arrangement of Gerudo Vally from Ocarina of Time. That would be awsome! You could even have the Guitars and some Woodwind with it!

that would sound intriguing, but I've already done a version Gerudo Valley, so I'd like to do something new

If jazz ensembles weren't a pain in the a## on Finale Notepad, I'd probably do that. Just make something completely original. I'd stray away from piano arrangements if you want to be unique(lol). Like, taking some slow song and making it an energetic song, but keeping the same melody, or something like that.

Okay. how about doing an arrangement of "Symphony of the Night" from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1) I've been meaning to do a piano solo version of it, but I'd like to hear a good ensemble version.

try changing the style completely. It's alot of fun researching into new styles.

maybe make a waltz or tango

thanks for all the help. I think I've finally found something I can work with. taking a bit of the suggestions here, I'm gonna see if I can't pull together a big band swing version of the Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow trainer battle theme

You could also try arranging something from Donkey Kong country games. I personally would like to see a good arrangement of 'stickerbush symphony' or something. Just another suggestion other than final fantasy games. Good luck

I'm doing a really dark version of Hyrule Field in Twilight Princess. I figured since there are already like a million arrangements of it, I'd do it a little differently.

DKC definitely crossed my mind, and I'll probably be doing something from there soon as well
