Native American through and through.
My family is one of the oldest in Canadian History in terms of Aboriginals.
I am the eldest great great grandaughter to elder Peter Willier, therefore I was bred for Tradition.
My Cree name given to me at birth is Chapan and it means storyteller.
It is my duty to carry on tradition for my generation.
Round dances, celebrations, family gatherings... all of it. You'll mostly find me on the computer sending out invites, and then you'll see me in the kitchen cooking of cleaning on the day.
I know all the prayers, all the words for any situation.
The saddest thing is that tradition is dying. No one cares anymore, as long as you get your money from the government, you don't care that you're native american.
In canada, native americans have their own government budget. We get more money for student funding, more money for housing aid, free rent if we live on a reserve, more money to live off of in general when it comes to financial aid.
Hence why people think we're just booze hounds. We get money whether or not we work, and our rent is free, so we spend our money partying.
Canadians DO NOT have a polar bear as a pet... someone from here asked me that.
SERIOUSLY....
and we live in houses, not igloos.
I speak(in order) Cree, English, French, Afrikaans.
Afrikaans comes from my adventure of being a teacher in Swakopmund, Namibia, Africa.
I've travelled through every time zone and have been to England, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Japan, Thailand and every state in the USA.
