Question Finale Notepad Question - 07-21-2009, 04:02 PM

Hey, guys. I just had a quick question. I'm arranging a choir piece using Finale Notepad and when I go back to play the score, the chorus is in the voice of piano, so it's really hard to tell what the chorus is singing and what the piano is playing. Could some one help me out if they know the answer to this? Thanks.

I don't know if Notepad has this option, but in Finale you can change the sound of an instrument by going to the "Window" menu, and selecting "Instrument List". In that window you should see a list of each instrument, its volume, panning, channel and MIDI patch. If you click on the MIDI patch it opens a list of every MIDI patch, allowing you to freely change the sound from one instrument to another.

Notepad probably will not let you do this. MakeMusic has gotten incredibly stingy recently, most notably having you pay for the new notepad and removing the previous free versions from their website; I'd imagine the feature I mentioned is only available in the newer commercial Notepad, if at all.

Blobbery.

Thanks man. It actually did work. I have the paid version of Finale so it worked great! Thanks again.
