Default How to change the key signature in FinaleNotepad - 10-19-2009, 01:24 PM

I have a question. Don't know if this is in the right section but anyway:

Yesterday I downloaded Finale Notepad 2010 (trial version for 30 days), for transcribing Xion's Theme from Synthesia to sheet music. But how can you change the key signature in the middle of a piece (for example from B Flat Major to A Flat Major - that's what I need). Is it possible? If not, I'll devide the piece in two files, with the first in B Flat Major and the second in A Flat Major. Or I have to put in a lot of Flats and Sharps (is that correctly formulated...?)

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just downloaded the trial for Finale PrintMusic and I see that changing the key signature is possible with this programm. I just have to start over again in a new file. But I may get more problems with Finale 'cause I have never used it before...

If you get the pieces finished, I can combine them into one sheet for you. I have Finale 2010, so I can fix the sheet however you want.

If you could do that, that would be great. I'll start today with the second part in A Flat Major. It should be finished within a week.

I've finished it today. Here are the files. The speed to play it (don't really know how to formulate that in English) is 110 (quarter note). If you could put that somewhere above that would be great.
Really, really thank you!

Oh, and about the red bows... The notes at the end of the red bow mustn't be played but Finale does. Don't know I used the right button.

I'll get it all fixed up. Would you mind if I made some editor's corrections to the notation? The piece would work a lot cleaner if I cut all the notational values in half, and then marked the tempo different.

No, that's all right. This is the first time I do such a thing so go ahead.

EDIT: I've detected a last mistake in the fourth measure of the second file. The first and last note (both D's left hand) must have a natural symbol.

EDIT EDIT: I forgot also the natural symbol for the D (first note right hand) in the third measure and the D in the second measure (last note right hand). At the end I saw I forgot a lot of naturals, but I think this is all.

Here is the corrected version of the second file.

Okay. I'll try to get them done within a week. I'm really busy, but I'll try to squeeze it in

Default I have the same problem.... - 11-03-2009, 07:32 PM

I have about 5 pages made completely in E major...there are still 5 pages needed to be added to it, but they have to be in A Flat major. Basically, I need to change the key signature during the piece for the second half without altering the first half....How do I do this?. Much help appreciated, thank you!

@The-Real-Link: I know you were very busy with the Yoko Shimomura Competition and maybe other things, and, not to be impatient but, when could you have finished it? I haven't haste or something, just curious :P.

@Sholted. I know I promised to get it done. I'll do my best to get to work on this week. Like you said, I was working on the Shimomura contest, and I had several things going on outside of squaresound as well. I had a piano competition to prepare both my students and myself for, and I was trying to get some compositions finished before I had an interview with the composition professor at a certain university. (The interview went REALLY great! He said not many freshmen have a portfolio of compositions as impressive as mine!) So, I have been kind o busy. I'll do my best to get it finished within a week!
