You can't do that in Notepad, however Notepad is only a small free version of the full program. The higher level programs such as Song Writer, Print Music and Allegro all support these features, for a price much lower than Sibelius.

I'd hope you can change meter in full versions... it'd be sort of bad if you couldn't.
I've never used Allegro, Print Music, or Song Writer but I have used the full version of Finale.

Yeah, full version can do that, too. I have yet to find something it can't do :P

I've got a Finale question:
I have Finale 2007, and I am having a problem using the triplet tool. When I try adding a triplet to a measure with 2 quarter notes and 2 eighth notes in place of 1 half note towards the end of a measure, it does not allow me to add the last eighth note, instead, it fills with a weird dotted rest.
This problem does not happen at the beginning of the measure where the triplet is positioned correctly.
The rhythm in Rabanastre has the same issue in finale. With 1 quarter note and 1 eighth note inside of the triplet, and it doesn't let me add the las 8th note as if it can't fit into the triplet, but it should??
If anyone could help me that would be great.

You need to first write the notes down normally, then select the first note of the series with the triplet tool, and it will bring up a dialogue box asking you what you want to do. For example, in Rabanastre, you need to put in "3 eigth notes in place of 2 eigth notes", and it will select the quarter note and the eigth note after it, and transform it into a triplet.

Yes, that's true and I didn't have a problem with that until the end of the measure where I try to do the same thing, but it appears that the 8th note (or any other note wont fit.) This also occurred when I tried to insert a "6th" triplet of 8th notes, where the last note did not fit. I tried to change the triplet settings multiple times as to what would theoretically work, but I never seemed to get it to work correctly.

I've never quite understood this phenomenon, but I know exactly what you're talking about and how to fix it. In Finale 2004 (not sure if it's the same for 2007), you just click on "Simple Entry Options" under "Simple" and clear the box labeled "Check for Extra Notes."

Okay, after yesterday's ordeal trying to open my competition arrangement, i really need some help with getting finale notepad working. For some odd reason, my rolled chord articulation isnt working. Whenver i use it, the program gets an unknown error and shuts down taking any unsaved work with it. And the last few times, as soon as i open an arrangement of my own that has a rolled chord, the program shuts down almost immediately upon pressing play. I can still use the program, i just can't access certain arrangements and work on them anymore, because they have one or two rolled chords. Anyone know how to solve this?
Where are you? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.

Something similar happened to me in the past, either it shut down when I tried to save a file after applying the rolled chord articulation, or when I tried to play it back. The program also deleted the .mus file upon doing this. Though, I've found that saving the file as soon as you apply the articulation, without leaving the articulation tool, it won't crash. Then, close the program on your own and it shouldn't have any problems any more (for some reason).
