I can never find a way to fit into a song.

Well. You can use it for rhythmic underlay. Or if its a slower rubato song, you can use it for longer notes. I love the warm sound of a timpani roll. It also helps lead crescendos and decrescendos.

Ahhh yes, the Timpani is great! I always try to incorporate it into orchestral arrangements or anytime this is appropriate. Ooooo Orchestration...I can't wait until I take that as a class, I'm gonna love it!

Well I did have the timpani in my arrangement of Fields of Honor. But, I changed the sound to Taiko Drum.

I do like the combination you've chosen for the song. It will give a nice dark sound. Do you write with lyrics? Or just the notation?
Currently, just notation. I would choose to have most of my lyrics in latin, but I don't know any latin. lol. I would probably end up hiring a lyricist.

I mix and match really.

I like to use a piano where possible though, even when I do more synthesised arrangements.

Latin...well that's cool. I've sang a bit in choral groups so I wouldn't know much either lol. Would you say your piece consisting of a dark feel and lyrics could be similar to One Winged Angel or Liberi Fatali?

Ok so I guess you don't use a traditional kind of ensemble but you use what will work for that piece?

Yea, I don't have a massive wealth of classical knowledge, so I use orchestral instruments intermittently whenever I'm arranging.

Ahhh that's cool, using combos works as well, and I do that sometimes myself. Actually I'm doing a combo arrangement for my college jazz chamber group. I'm arranging the Hey Arnold theme song.

I wrote a couple solos for flute but only because it felt like it was the only thing that was right. ive also recently started a percussion ensemble for an arrangment of Hollow Bastion. im just trying out different ensembles and stuff to see which ones i like. So far woodwind ensemble is sounding pretty good.
