Hey there! -
10-26-2009, 09:53 PM
Heyo everyone!
My name's Milen, I'm a violinist and self-taught, to a mediocre degree, pianist for the purpose of my goal - "composition in the media." More specifically, the gaming industry!
For the modern age, my main influences would be the lovely Yoko Shimomura, famed Nobuo Uematsu, John Williams, Howard Shore, Harry Gregson-Williams, a bit of Hanz Zimmer - though D Minor gets tiring! (Weew! Music Jokes ^^) For popular music, my main band would currently be Muse. (No snarks about some of the redundant chord progressions!)
Let's see...
Tchaikovsky is probably the composer I look up to the most, for his orchestration and expression. It's only natural, since , in the end, my career goal is to invoke emotion in an audience.
Ask anything you need to know ^^
Pleasure to be here!

Hello, and welcome. It sounds like you have good taste in music. Tchaikovsky's music is a very lyric. If you like his, I would suggest listening to/playing some Chopin (My personal favorite composer), the Preludes, Nocturnes, and Etudes in particular. Anyways, we are always glad to get new members! If there is anything I can do to help, feel free to ask!

Sorry, forgot to add then I'm huge into piano music =)
Rach and Chopin are fantastic =P
Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto hits me hard, it's something about playing 4 octaves of a fully coloured chord =P

Welcome to SquareSound! Look forward to seeing you around here. On a side note, i like that list of modern influences. Lots of my favourites there too.
Where are you? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.

I meant to comment about your modern influences as well. John Williams and Howard Shore, Uematsu, and Shimomura are some of my favorites. I'm also a big fan of Danny Elfman, James Horner, and John Powell, Motoi Sakuraba, Koji Kondo, and Hitoshi Sakimoto.
