Default Instrument Sounds - 01-29-2009, 05:14 PM

Okay, so I'm trying to produce realistic-sounding pieces. However, Finale's sounds just aren't cutting it. Is there any way to create better instrument sounds short of using real ones?

Please give my syphony a listen! Any comments are greatly appreciated!

Software sampling, using soundfonts or VSTi's is what you're looking for. I do a lot of producing so I have FL Studio 8, which, being a DAW, obviously includes software sampling capabilities. Aside from this I'm a little shy of software samplers, but a google search should do you some good.

Blobbery.

I don't have it, but is GPO's 2009 package good? I was really impressed with the examples they gave of their new Steinway Grand Piano soundfont software!

Does anyone know of any good orchestral or piano VSTi's that are free (and safe...)? Links or exact names would be appreciated. I'm using FL studio which has more than enough synth sounds, but synths are the majority of the sounds i find online too; I was hoping to get some other instruments in my arrangement too.

Where are you? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.
