Definitely a good idea Joseph. It's good to have a basic list of resources to turn to. Plus the list can always be added and extended. Thanks for posting it .

This is a really great idea. Here are a couple of things to add to the Music theory section.

Garritan's Interactive Jazz Course - http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/...play.php?f=107

Garritan's Interactive Orchestration Course - http://www.northernsounds.com/forum/...splay.php?f=77

Just a suggestion, perhaps you could also add a section for musical production/editing software (or tutorials/help for people trying to make their music sound better). So like, audio editors, sampling software, audio workstations, etc and information about those things.

Just throwing something in here, but most people use Finale. A majority of the arrangements on Squaresound are in the Finale format, so if everyone on this site used Finale, then everyone could download each other's arrangements. However, this puts others at a disadvantage, since not a lot of Googlers have Finale, so...=I

Audacity is a decent free audio editor. And then FL Studio is a nice workstation (costly though), but i'm finding it's got a lot of features. I'm just playing around with and i still have tonnes to learn about it. But i'm not the best person to ask, i'm usually the person that asks others about music software (and music in general ).

Someone commenting on one of my arrangements noted that I should use music XML, as it works across several music programs (including finale, sibelius and muse score). To save a musicXML file, go to File->Music XML->Export; I just zip it up with the MUS file.

In any case, Sibelius also supports MUS files, for some reason, so Sibelius users can also open some of our arrangements.

Blobbery.
