Just play it slowly at first, and gradually increase your speed. I don't use sheets during performances, well, I do, but I only glance at it and just focus on my hands. Memorizing is easier than it seems.

What grade does everybody here consider themselves (like advanced, intermediate, etc)? Just curious. I personally think I am late-intermediate/early advanced-ish, since I am not skilled enough to play a lot of Piano collections songs as most are advanced level.

Mid-early advanced. Or something. Using a grade scale I'm at a 10/10, but just beginning those pieces. Unfortunately the pieces continue to get difficult after you're done with the graded books, so I'm pretty much still beginning .

Blobbery.

I'm probably just about where you are Indra. I've tried to play some collections songs, but i usually struggle immensely at parts. With a lot of practice though, you can still learn them. I went on some advice Nicol gave me earlier which was trying some of the pieces from the FF5 and 6 collections, because some of those were a little easier. Maybe you could try those too?

Where are you? Here. What time is it? Now. What are you? This moment.

I'm probably about the same as Nicol. About Mid-Advanced. I'm playing mostly level 8-10 pieces. I've just started learning level 10 pieces, such as Bach, Chopin, Liszt, etc.

Wow. I wish I was as good as you guys. How can you tell what grade the piece you are playing?

I list my pieces by the difficulty rating givin by Jane Magrath. This is the rating system used by "The International Piano Guild." I compete in the Guild Audition Competition every year. Next year I may enter the Guild International Composition Competition as well. Anyways, you can buy a copy of Jane Magrath's book. It has a list of most classical repetoire pieces and their difficulty level.

You can find it HERE

I've actually never heard of this method of grading, TRL, thanks for the link . I personally use a series called the Celebration Series, but I don't know if you'd be able to find that outside of Canada.

I don't actually work through a series or anything. My teacher just helps me pick the pieces that I need to learn. Although most of the time I pick my own pieces.
