That must have been just Super Mario Bros. I didn't like the game at all, I'm more Sonic fan. Super Mario Galaxy was the first mariogame I beat completely.

My first Mario encounter was with my very first video game purchase. A SNES with Super Mario World! I still have both in working condition.
